Feeding chain mount fixtures

A contractor has fed chain mount flourescents by mounting the EMT to the fixture itself. The conduit runs from light to light along the top of the fixture, with a 4 sq.box on top of each fixture. This has to be a violation, but I am having trouble finding the article. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Geeze, I have been installing such an arrangement for years. Both the fixture run and the piping run are supported. It is a simbiotic arrangement. So long as there is no stress on the EMT where it leaves the wall or ceiling and attaches to the fixture run, I don't see any violation.

Assuming that the conduit support (which is at the fixture) does not exceed 10 feet?

NEC Article 358.30 & Exibit 358.1 in the Handbook.
