Chapter 489.503 (5) Florida contractors manual. Says the sale or installation of any finished product that does not become a permanent fixed or fabricated into the structure is exempt from permitting. I'm arguing that a direct wired appliance is a finished product(dishwashers mainly). Do I have a leg to stand on here?

I think if it is hardwired your leg gets kicked out from under you. If it plugs in I would say otherwise.

In any case you are not getting an electrical permit for the dishwasher but for the electrical installation of it. If you have to run conduit, wire, and/or install a receptacle, you would need a permit IMHO.

If all you are doing is unplugging an existing dishwasher and plugging a new one in its place, probably not.

I agree. You don't have a leg to stand on

The dishwasher isnt fabricated into the structure. Any new electrical to it is. You dont have a leg to stand on, unless Lowes/HD in FL dont do installs... they send out guys to do dishwashers all the time for far cheaper than a plumber or electrician would charge, unless something fails their checklist...

I asked about replacing old dishwashers here months ago, depending on your locale or insurance, you may not be able to do the plumbing portion, even if it is just unwrenching connections. Technically...
