Is fire alarm cable required to be kept to 40% fill max?
Can someone help me find the code language path from Article 760 to a 40% fill requirement for raceway?
Is it only the generic text found in 760.46 "other appropriate articles"?

Ron

760.3 Other Articles.
Only those sections of Article 300 referenced in this article shall apply to fire alarm systems.

There is no reference to-
300.17. Number and Size of Conductors in Raceway.

Check out the FPN that follows 300.17

So...we see-
760.25 NFPLA Circuit Wiring Methods.
Installation of non-power-limited fire alarm circuits shall be in accordance with ... 300.17 and other appropriate articles of Chapter 3.

760.52 & .52(A) reference 760.25.

That is a start, I am sure others will have at it as well.

I cannot point to a specific reference here, but yes conduit fill applies to Fire alarm circuits, limited and nonlimited, at least in my experience. I was called on it once by an inspector in fact, but it was less than 24" so the nipple rule covered it.

I think your inspector was wrong.

Sure I'll help you. Do you have the NFPA 72 book?
Try article

4.4.4.4* The installation of all wiring, cable, and equipment SHALL BE in accordance with NFPA 70.***********, Specifically Articles 760,770, and 800 ................................................................................

Also in Section C.2 Wiring Diagrams
When testing circuits, the correct wring size, insulation type, and CONDUCTOR FILL should be verified in accordance with the requirements of NFPA 70

Hope this helps you. I have the NFA Code Book 2007 Edition
