We have picked up a project adding notification appliances below a drop ceiling. The wall above the drop ceiling is not dry walled yet. The wall below the ceiling is covered with dry wall. I can eliminate wire mold if I pull the non-armored cable down the stud bay and through the dry wall directly into the appliance. The question is will every dry wall penetration require some sort of softener like a bushing to protect the cable? Code?

Are you asking if the cable passes through drywall does it need a bushing? No, the drywall behind the device won't need anything.

If it passes through a fire wall, a sleeve system could be used, or as long as the hole is the proper size to be fire caulked, no. Of couse job specs

When it goes into the box, yes, bushings on the threads of the connector, or a KO bushing is required.

Yes, I was asking if a sleeve is necessary in the dry wall to protect against abrasion on the cable. Yes I will need to fire caulk the penetration. Thanks for your response.
