I have a manual and automatic wash building that is connected to a generator. We installed a fire alarm system. Currently the fire alarm control panel is connected to the normal system. We have 1 transfer switch for equipment/lighting, no specific life safety transfer switches are installed in this building.

The question is, Is this fire alarm system required to be connected to the emergency system? If so, are we required to connect to a separete LS transfer switch?

I have a strong feeling the answer is NO and we are OK with connecting to the normal source, but I cannot find a code reference to back me up.

Thanks

Is the fire alarm control panel provided with battery back-up? If so then I would say that a separate transfer switch and connection to the generator is not needed or required. I cannot quote a code reference to say it is necessary to connect to the generator power.
