You may be thinking of this:

760.121(B) Branch Circuit. The branch circuit supplying the fire
alarm equipment(s) shall supply no other loads. The location
of the branch-circuit overcurrent protective device
shall be permanently identified at the fire alarm control
unit. The circuit disconnecting means shall have red identification,
shall be accessible only to qualified personnel,

and shall be identified as ?FIRE ALARM CIRCUIT.? The
red identification shall not damage the overcurrent protective
devices or obscure the manufacturer?s markings. This
branch circuit shall not be supplied through ground-fault
circuit interrupters or arc-fault circuit interrupters.

Does anyone know if the fire alarm control panel color has to be RED?

With the above mentioned exeception, the NEC and 72 neither require anything fire alarm to be red.

Are you asking because someone painted the panel door or something like that?

In that case the question may be directed to the AHJ and whether or not the listing has been violated. That would be UL 864, 9th Ed or FM standards.

Thanks for the response, I'm asking because the client wants the panel to be any color other than red.

We rep Siemens, and you can get red or black. In fact, black is their default. I believe that EST is available in "putty grey". Simplex looks like beige or red. I don't know about higher end Notifier products. I don't recall that Silent Knight or FireLite offer their products in black or other than red, but I've never asked. The worst they can say in no, right?
