I know fire alarm devices are usually required for elevators (mostly smoke detectors and heat detectors in some cases). But i have a special type project for an ADA lift station type elevator, it fits 1 wheel chair only for patients that needs to go to the second floor (2 story building), very small type lift station. I'm not sure if im reading in the correct code areas, but i don't see that such type of lift station requires fire alarm devices like a typical elevator. Am i correct presume that fire alarm devices not required for this? any information on this would be appreciated. Thank you

I'm responding without any research, so there may be some disconnect here. First, you need to see what Florida has to say about this in their building code, but IIRC, there is a minimum lift height, which if exceeded, requires the usual bells and whistles. I think it's about 8 feet. The exemption is to allow those half-height lifts that have no enclosure and go up only a few feet.
