Fire alarm disconnect

In regards to fire alarm related equipment , on an emergency ckt does the disconnect need to be mounted within the vicinity of the generator or within a certain distance or can they be mounted next to the equipment being served

I have to add a ckt for a smoke purge ats and all the disconnect switches for the fire related equipment are mounted right off the generator is this a code or a spec

We always have the disconnect adjacent to the generator because the feeder to the disconnect is usually following a tap rule if there is a generator switchboard. Most recently the switch was factory installed and factory wired by the generator company.
