Hello all,

Need to run power limited fire alarm cable up a couple of floors in a mixed use building. There is a nice large conduit already run through the building and stopping at all the floors where a Horn and smoke detector need to be installed. This conduit carries power for the the hallway lighting, emergency lights, and convenience receptacles in the hallway. Article 760.136 says that there must be separation between power limited fire alarm cable and electric light, power, class 1, NPLFA, and medium-power network-powered broadband communications circuit conductors. Except if one of the permissions found in (B) through (G) of that sections allows it.

Part (B) allows them to be ran together if separated by barriers. I know at outlet box there are barrier like this: https://www.gordonelectricsupply.co...MIlPWhqNfv2gIVAp6fCh0uLQxyEAQYBSABEgK-O_D_BwE

But what about within the conduit itself? Conduit bodies? Any suggestions on how to get to use the fire alarm cable within the same conduit as the lighting circuit would be appreciated.

Thank you

In my biased view point on this matter, I would deem it ok if at every junction box and conduit body some split wire loom: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00T56PX66/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A38Z015AJ7I755&psc=1 was used.

However, it can be argued that it defeats the purpose of the restriction because the point is that if there is a short within the conduit to one of the Power limited conductors, then there could be an issue, even though at every junction box and conduit body, it is separated.
