Re: Fire alarm reference

NECA has a National Electrical Installation Standard on Fire Alarm systems. It goes with the NEC, add installation details, about $25.00

Re: Fire alarm reference

Fire Alarm systems require two code books - NFPA 72, telling you how to design and install fire alarms, and the Lifesafety Code, NFPA 101, which tells you what occupancies require a fire alarm and to what degree. Three States that I know of, New York, California and Florida, have their own Fire Prevention codes that are more restrictive than the NFPA references.

Chris
Since you are an electrician, I would recommend, Limited Energy Systems by Noel Williams. This book covers firealarm, it also covers Remote-Control and Signaling, Fiber Optics, and Communications.

chris,
if you are planning to do an installation, you need to check with your state requirements.
are you certified, licensed, bonded in order to do the installation?
