Agree; maybe. For fire alarm contractors, there are two basic kinds of jobs. Full scope, and parts and smarts. P&S jobs typically originate when the EC calls up the FA contractor and says "hey, I've got this Siemens panel that needs work...". In that case, we provide the fire alarm devices and device and panel programming. The EC installs the conduit (if required) cable, back boxes, AND devices. We come in and make the final connection to the panel or some other pre-defined location and perform/supervise the test and inspection. For full scope we do the soup to nuts; device layout, cabling, boxes, etc. Sometimes, if it's a really big job, we'll sub to the EC for the conduit, cabling, and back boxes. We have only so many alarm techs, and we can't tie them up running pipe and wire.
