Fire Alarm Smoke Detectors - Hospital

Hello.

We always place a smoke detectors in all rooms of a hospital renovation project when we do not have complete suppression. There are instances where we do not use smoke detectors in patient rooms (behavioral health applications) as they present a nuisance. What code reference permits this, and what determines when corridors are protected--- and what determines when rooms are protected?

I think I found it... you need a automatic door closure with an integral smoke detector.
