Fire Alarm Speaker/Horn in outdoor Deck?

A large residential unit has a large outdoor terrace/deck.
Would a speaker/horn be required outside in the terrace to alert the occupants in case of alarm?

For residential, I don't believe so. Think about it; what is the purpose of the alarm? It's to get people to leave the premises. If you're already outside, well then...

I think it would be nice to let the people sunning themselves on the deck know that their house was burning down...

Nice, sure. But required for life safety? Not so much, and the OP asked if it is required.
