HI.I am just curious how many other EC will do the piping & wiring for a fire alarm sytem?I am a c-10 & will do them if i have a decent set of plans to work from.I hire a FA company to come do the final connections & FA pnl programming. Great to have this site to learn from.

In my area, it usually goes like this:

1) EC's install and deliver a complete system - wiring, devices, the whole shebang. This will usually be a separate contract from electrical.

2) Install raceway or pull cable for FA or low-voltage specialist to do the rest.

It all depends on the scope of work in the contract.

depends on job/customer for us. if standalone, we will do. some malls require their own mall contractor to do interface to main system. govt usually has base contractor that does interface to base FA after we test our side, then we test together. utility companies usually require us to do multiple tests/commisioning before and after they interface. just depends on the job conditions.

the reason I am asking as well?? I just got asked to come do a small FA system on a school portable bldg that was just moved onto site. The EC that got the bid for the power to the blg( i was too high on price for the pwr bid) suddenly told the school princaple he dsnt do FA systems & they have to find someone else to come do the wiring for it.. So??? just more money for me as they agreed to let me do it cost plus. thanks all for the replys back. always work safe!!
