Unfortunatly, British bureaucrats are sometimes known for this kind of narrow view of the world. The usual term for them is "jobsworth" ("more than my job's worth not to get a signature/enforce this rule/etc").

It is a WWII semi auto. Very accurate, as long as you don't keep pulling the trigger, it tends to get higher with each shot..........

Its not quite a jobsworth thing.

Over the last several years there has been a move from prescriptive rule making to risk assessments. RAs are now a common part of many occupations. Using an RA you can make informed decisions about relative risks.

Single Action Army - Like John Wayne had in the cowboy movies. 45LC isn't a bad cartridge and long as one hand loads and doesn't use a Colt revolver.

Auto Colt Pistol - Like hockey's. 45ACP is good and Colt as well as others make good pistols. For personal defense I would suggest hollow points - cuts down on the shot up inicent bystanders.
