Hi all,
I need clarification here please
I have been getting mixed information about this

I was told that the feed for the Sprinkler booster pump has to be feed from the line side of the service switch and the feed for the Jockey pump can come out from the Public lighting Panel of a Dedicated feed

But then I was told that this is not the correct way of wiring it
it should be 1 Service switch for both the Sprinkler Booster Pump and then Tap off of the feeder to feed the Jockey pump

So I would like to see which one is the Correct way or are both correct and its optional to which ever we want to

Thanks in advance

695.3(A)(1) calls for the fire pump supply to be a separate service or connectionn ahead of the service,.
{There are other options in (B)( & (C)}
The jockey pump is allowed to be fed by that service or from another source.

Let me clarify
My question is not on the fire pump part
My question is in regards of the Jockey pump only
and you answered it
and the reason I posted is because
I had this discussion with an inspector who claimed and wrote many Violations to people on having the Jockey pump feed from the Public Panel (PLP) and the fire pump ahead of service connection and I was trying to clarify this with him but he wouldn't listen to what I had to say

There may be a requirement of which I am unaware or I could be mistaken but I don't see any requirement that the jockey pump be fed by the FP service.

We always tap the jockey pump off of the fire pump feeder. Is this installation in NYC?

A very good reason for doing this is that any disconnect in the service panel has to be rated for the locked rotor current of the jockey pump. You don't want to forget that at the last minute.

Might be a local code issue. NEC 695 does not cover jockey pumps and refers users to art. 430, the general section for motors. Based on that there are no special requirements for jockey pumps in the NEC. This is most likely because a failure of a jockey pump will not prevent the fire pump system from operating. You should ask the AHJ the source of their requirement.
