Serving fire pump from utility xfmr, do you being the ground from the xfmr or is the ground taking from the main gear? If it is taking if the main gear is that going to make a loop? Voltage is 480.

mark,

You do it just like any other service, in this case bring in the 3 phase conductors and the

neutral conductor ( per code, if you have a neutral you must bring it to the 1st disconnect-

ing means ) earth the neutral to GES, install MBJ to the EG bus. Forget about the other

service, this is a seperate service, except the GES's need to be bonded together.

Well heres a 400 amp fire pump controller we installed normal on left emergency on right look at the left bottom you can see the service ground we also have a ground bar in room it hits domestic cold water & building steel in addition to ground rod system in this case we ran a 3/0 but thats what was spec for all grounds on job .

Check with your power company as sometimes they dont like putting the cts in the same transformer as the normal building service and we must install a ct box and meter in some locations just for fire pump not all but its kinda important to ask first .

As stated above its a service !

Its a 200 hp 480 volt controller if you look at bottom that copper line inspector made them move it they ran it in front of controller we told them but they never listen to electricians until the inspector comes out then it cost them twice as much and we just smile !
