Need clarification on NEC 695.6 (C) (1) and (C) (2)

Jockey pump and related fire pump accesories could be connected in the fire pump circuit ( tapped ahead of the power meter and before the main disconnect) or the fire pump could be connected on its own circuit the jockey pump and related accesories in another. The question is do the jockey pump and related accesories will have to comply with the same requirements as the fire pump if connected in different circuit?

Thanks for your replies.

I wire the jockey pump just like any normal pump; not like a fire pump. Always passed inspection. Don't know if that's right or wrong. The jockey pump essentially keeps nuisance alarms away, near as I can tell, and doesn't really have much to do with putting fires out. I honestly don't know anything along these lines, for sure, but I just felt like talking about it.

695.1 states that the pressure maintenance pump is not covered by this section.

It is my understanding that 695.6(C)(1) & (2) are to be followed if the jockey pump is deriving its power from the Fire Pump Controller.

Its my understanding the jockey pump keeps pressure in the Lines so they will spray long enough for the big fire pump to kick in... and to prevent nuisance alarms :D
