Pse&g asked my take on Fire Pump Metering. There is a push on rating metering at lock rotor current. One site has a 50 HP motor 208v ---430.250 says 143amps x 125% or 179amps.

A 200amp meter socket would be fine. But if we go by lock rotor current, a CT cabinet would need to be installed. 695.4 (2)a tells me only OCPD need to be rated @ lock rotor current and the 200a meter socket is ok.

Am I correct?

The 200 amp meter socket should be fine. The conductors are only going to be sized for 125% of FLA, no point in gilding the lily on the meter socket.
