There are waytoo may fire pump questions on this forum, so I figured I would ask a few more.I just can't find an answer to my application. Plus, I haven't sized a servicefor a fire pump in quite a while, so I'm a little rusty.

I'm bringing a single service to the building. I want to tap ahead of the main(after the utility meter) and feed the pump. The tap will be in a separatevertical section and it will feed the fire pump controller. I will specify thefeeders to be run under slab to the fire pump room.

So here are few questions:

It's just a tap feeding the controller. The NEC does not require an OCPD at theswitchboard?
Feeders should be 125% FLA of the motor?
Can the utility meter and the fire pump tap be in the same vertical section, ormust it be dedicated?
When sizing the service feeders, do I need to include the FLA of the fire pumpplus the service amperage?

Do the feedersfrom the utility transformer to the main switchboard need to be concreteencased, or rated for 2 hours?

Thanks

Take a look at these.
695.3 (A) 1
695.5 (A), and (C) 1

695.6 (B)

The NEC does not require an OCPD at theswitchboard?
The NEC requires ground fault-short circuit protection only. Overload is prohibited.

Feeders should be 125% FLA of the motor?
Yes the feeders should be no less than 125% of the sum of the fire pump motors and pressure maintenance motors, and 100% of the associated fire pump accessory equipment.

Can the utility meter and the fire pump tap be in the same vertical section, or must it be dedicated?
The NEC only forbids having the service disconnect means and the fire pump connection in the same vertical switchboard section . Not the meter.

When sizing the service feeders, do I need to include the FLA of the fire pump plus the service amperage?
I would say so. Fire pump is a load just the same as any other.

Do the feeders from the utility transformer to the main switchboard need to be concrete encased, or rated for 2 hours?
Well there is no requirement nor prohibition against it in the NEC.
