controller wchich has a main disconnect. the controller is about 60ft from the vault. Do I need a main before the fire pump main/controller?

Luis,

Section 695.6(A) prohibits service conductors from being routed inside the building. If it is impracticable to route the conductors outside the building a disconnecting means complying with 695.4(B) is permitted to be installed between the power source and the fire pump controller (be sure to check with the local AHJ). The disconnecting means must be located per 230.70(A) and 230.72(B).

The conductors on the load side of the disconnecting means permitted by 695.4(B) are permitted to comply with 695.6(B) which allows the use of an electrical circuit protective system. There are electrical circuit protective systems comprised of MI cable (FHIT.10 for example). These systems must be installed in accordance with their listing and labeling. Check UL.com on-line certifications for installation details.

I hope this helps.
