NFPA 20 states standby generator shall have fuel capacity sufficient to provide 8 hours of fire pump operation at 100% rating.
What if we use inverter in lieu of generator? Do we need to meet this 8 hours backup? That is a lot of battery count... any thought?

The short answer is yes, you need to meet the 8 hour backup. Why would you think that the use of an inverter would change the time requirement?
