Where do i put a service switch, if any, for 12hp fire pump. Fire pump is installed on the 12th floor with MCA-75-20 controller. Controller has a built-in isolating switch.

Re: fire pump

fire pumps do not require a service disconnect. If one is installed it has to be able to carry locked rotor current.

I think the disconnecting means need only to carry 115% of the motor running amperes, be rated for the horsepower, and have OC protection that will carry LR current.

Re: fire pump

See 695.4(1) OCPD shall carry locked rotor current indefinitely
I agree but OCPD means overcurrent protective device and a disconnecting means is not an OCPD. Notice that I said, ". . . and have OC protection that will carry LR current." Sorry, Tom, I think I gotcha.
