With reference to point 695.4-b-2 describing the over current device selection, and the calculation example
Please clarify if the protection device for the fire pump is a breaker with a thermal and magnetic protection or it will have magnetic trip only [the example explained is selecting a device with 800A for a fire pump with rated current of 100A and locked rotor current of 725A].
If it is possible to use both devices with thermal-magnetic trip or magnetic trip only, then please explain how to size the protective devices at these two cases.
Why do have two different sizes for the protective devices of the feeder supplying the fire pump either from generator or fed from utility?
Could you please explain the required internal protection for the fire pump control equipment?
