I checked the 2008 NEC, but I do not see any exemptions for fire pumps having ground fault protection. What I have seen are 3 substations that have tie-breakers with GFP. A fire pump disconnect is fed off the tie breakers is what I'm told.
I have always seen fire pumps with their own service feed to an ATS and there was no GFP. My question is, is the above setup legal per NEC? The ties have gfp, and they feed the fire pump ATS which feeds the fire pump. Am I missing something here?
