Hi Everyone,
I have a question regarding fire pumps and the jockey pump hook up. I understand the basic requirements for fire pumps themselves, but I can't seem to find anything regarding the jockey pumps. I've checked through NEC 695, and NFPA 20 but have yet to see anything specifically detailing the power requirements for the smaller auxiliary pumps. I have folks saying they must be powered ahead of the main service disconnect like the fire pumps themselves when we have a reliable power source, others are saying they can be powered from a branch circuit and sized accordingly since it's an auxiliary system. Anybody have some thoughts on this?

I would suggest you check NFPA 20 Section 9.7 and 10.3.4.6 as to restrictions on jockey pump wiring to the fire pump controller.
