When fire stopping drywall in high rise condos, where you have drilled, or cut through the drywall, is required to fire stop all openings, or just walls seperating units, or leading to hallways.

Penetrations through rated walls must be stopped per an approved system.

Penetrations through non-rated walls will require draft-stopping and possibly fire-blocking.

These are provisions of your local building code.
