Hi Everyone! Have Exhaust Fan for commercial kitchen. motor is 115.230V. Is now wired @115V. Ansul system is fed off same ckt, to force Fan on In alarm state. I want to wire motor for 240V. Can i feed fire ckt off one leg and install nuetral needed for alarm bell and microswitch? Have 240V with Eq. ground for motor sitting there. Service is 120/240 single phase delta. contactor coil for motor would be fed off this same leg that is feeding alarm, to force fan on in alarm state. Much appreciation for everyones time. This is one great site!

There's no one way to wire every fire-suppression system, but I've done a lot of them, especially retro-wiring for older systems being updated.

As a generalization, I'll opt for running a motor at the higher voltage if possible. Just wire the 2-pole contactor's coil in place of the 120v motor.

But, to answer your question directly, yes, as long as all of the wiring is protected by the size of the breaker.
