Oh the misinformation and oversimplification of protecting penetrations of a fire resistive assembly.
No offense Jim, but sealed is not the correct term. And it's only a smoke wall if there is such a term if a listed smoke fire damper is required to be installed
In order to properly discuss this subject, proper language needs to be used.
If it is a wall with an hourly fire resistive rating then any penetrations need to have a through penetration firestop system installed.
Simply squirting Hilti FS-1 all over the place does not cut it.
Any Fill, Void or Cavity Material or fire caulk as it is commonly called means nothing unless it is installed per a through penetration firestop system
