I am wiring a duplex and need help with a firewall question. Both meters will be grouped on the end of the front duplex, the question I have is can I run the service entrance to the back dwelling through the attic crawl space of the first and pass through the firewall to the load center of the back dwelling? If so what is the proper way to pass through the fire wall? I have never wired a duplex and want to make sure it is done right. Thank you

The service disconnects are grouped with the meters? You would need to maintain the fire rating of the wall by sealing the penetration after the cable is installed.

Yes the disconnects are are grouped with meters. Would a conduit be required through the firewall penetration?

If there is OCPD at the meters the conductors to the load centers are not service conductors and can be run inside. For a duplex the wires in the attic do not serve the first unit or originate at OCPD inside the first unit, so no problems there.
If there is no OCPD at the meters the wires to load center two are service conductors and the AHJ is not likely to allow the long run in the attic. In the attic is considered inside the building.

Typically I see fire stopping applied around the cables.

He's pulling either 4 conductors or one cable. I was assuming it was 4 conductors until you used the word cable.

Regardless of what he's pulling, he needs to firestop the penetration. A sleeve is one way and dealing with each conductor or cable is another way.

If you have access to the UL Orange books you can find 1 and 2hr assemblies of grouped single conductors passing through rated walls.

Why is grouped meters and discos odd.
That is the way it is done out west.

I rarely ever see a Meter pan that is not part a of assembly with a main.
