Checking a 1 ph motor that customer said tried to start then just quit. Did quick visual check of run caps that are in starter enclosure. Did basic check to ground and between motor leads with TPro. Applied power to starter and hit ON briefly. Starter pulls in but motor doesn't motor even grunt. Checked again to see if I have continuity at all between load conductors on starter. Tpro buzzes as if power is applied. What?? Remove power @ disconnect & try again. 250v DC on load side of starter. Sure glad I checked.

You motor guys know but it was the first time in 30+ years I've had it happen.

maybe a charged capacitor causing the voltage reading with failed or no discharge resistor and open connection somewhere so motor windings will not discharge it either.
