I need to change the lense portion of about a dozen 2X4 drop-in flourescent fixtures. Anybody know a good place to buy them? Seems like the kind of item that would be easier to buy through a web site than going to the original manufacturers distributer.

With a little modification- the Depot's work!
They may or may not require trimming. You can buy the prismatic lenses in both full-size 24" x 48" (maybe minus 1/4" each way), which drop in the grid like ceiling tiles, and in replacement-lens size, probably 1/2" or so smaller in each direction.

Replacements may be brand-specific if you don't want to do any trimming, which is tough to do without cracking the brittle plastic.

I have had good luck with HD lenses.

Score them repeatedly from the smooth side with a sharp razor knife, then snap the part off over the edge of a table.

A fine tooth blade on a table saw also works.

By the way, they will not match so put the replacements in out of the way spots and move a original lenses to areas where they will show.

No mater how you do it plan on needing extras. ;)

I use a 16d nail, whack the tip so that it is like a little hook burr, and scratch the line in the refractor to be cut. Works much better than scoring with a knife. That scratched line actually removes some material, making a little furrow that the refractor will snap cleanly along.
