My bidding software indicates using Dotty TY164 which is a coiled steel 16 1/2 gauge cable for seismic bracing fixtures in a lay in grid system. Have any of you used this type of seismic support? If so, how does it work? We purchase ceiling grid wire and attach it to the hard above for seismic. I'm trying to see if there is a better or faster way of doing things.

It has always seemed awkward no matter what we do. We use the ceiling grid wire. I had one job where the specs required 10 gauge:confused:. because it was so far between the drop ceiling and the tie off beams.

We have got the ceiling guys to drop the wires for us on large jobs with high ceilings. They're relatively inexpensive because they do it every day and are fast.
