Are 16/3 or 18/3 fixture whips allowed to those little power supplies of the mouse trap fixtures? Above a grid ceiling in a residence. Grid is about 6" lower than original ceiling.

400.12(1),(5) both options would restrict usage of Cords in such conditions.

I don't see an issue with using a whip with reduced sized conductors. The junction box is still part of the fixture.

Those are just called recessed LED disc lights. Or commonly called "wafer lights".
Are you referring to the little pigtail from the light to the JB/driver?

That pigtail is a listed part of the assembly.
I would say any feed to the JB/Driver would have to be sized per NEC for branch circuits.

Most manufacturers make extension wires for those that are listed. I've seen as long as 12ft

I understand that. I made two statements in my 1st reply and should have made clear they were unrelated.
First statement was why he was calling them "mouse traps". Which he explained.
2nd statement was His question about the size of the whips to the lights, and I was just asking if the pigtail from the JB to the fixture was what he was concerned about.
I guess what's in my head doesn't translate to the keyboard very well!

I see no problem with feeding a single wafer light with something like an 18ga fixture whip like you would use on a fluorescent troffer. Seems like the exact same purpose.
