Know I've asked this before....I beleive. But most of the time using fixture tails would be a better wiring practice, correct? Is it because of any future relocations?

The interconnecting lines show switching grouping, not necessarily physical wiring routing.
I agree with you that using individual whips is more versatile than light-to-light wiring.
