There are no true arc flash standards. The ANSI standard deals with colors and meanings of words. NFPA70E-2009 requires shock information and incident energy or PPE level. Things like what specific clothing to wear is not required.

In the NFPA-70E 2009 page 26 under Equipment Labeling:
Equipment shall be field marked with a label conataining the available incident energy or required level of PPE.
Some Companies are going with the Dupont standard Color signage ie; Green, yellow, orange & red on their Switchboards & Panelboards.
While other companies are going this route:

There is no set standard.
Just my $.02

I think this is a mess. What do I when I replace a motor and change the available fault current due to its contribution? Do I have to hire an engineer to do the study on it? Do I now have to know how to do the full analysis?

CMP-1 has rejected proposals to 110.16 in the past when people wanted this type of information in the NEC. After it passed in hte 70E, it will certainly pass in the 2011 NEC. :(

I think the label should say something like, "Subject to change without notice, verify calculations before choosing PPE"

NFPA70E-2009 specifically says signage must meet ANSI Z535.4. This standard details what signage colors and wording are supposed to mean (i.e. Red = Danger - something will happen, Orange = Warning - something might happen, Yellow = Caution - watchout). I do not believe Dupont's arc flash color scheme is compatible with Z535.4.
