Ok here is what we have:

We are connecting power conductors to a large 480v 3-ph compressor. The vibration of the motor on this compressor is huge. What we would like to do is use a Type G portable cable. The conduit is routed under the compressor room floor. Due to the location of the compressor and motor, mounting a junction box where the conduit emerges from the floor would be next to impossible. The conduit is installed between the VFD and the compressor and is less than 30', total length.
Would it be a violation of Article 400 to install this Type G cable through the conduit under the floor?

We are wanting to use this type of cable due to the vibration of the motor. This motor vibrates so bad that non-metallic sealtite does not last. The conduit size is 3".

400.8(6) says you can use it in raceways where specifically permitted in the code. I am not aware of a specific permission for that application.

You could use dual rated DLO (diesel locomotive cable) which is almost the same construction as Type G single conductor. The cable would be rated DLO/RHW or something like that.
