Are you asking about making a flexible connection to a transformer?

There is no NEC requirement for a transformer to be connected using a flexible connection, it is just good trade pratice.

The sections that Jhaney pointed out are for flexible connections made using flexible cord.

Thanks. I have some roof top AC units that are large units supported on steel structure. They require 480 400 amp feeds. The electrical entrance is way underneath the units and is about 2 1/2 feet of the ground in a straight run into the main cabinet inside of the unit. (you can walk inside of these units) In the past I have pipe directly into these units without liquid tight. These units are aprox 35' long and about 12' wide. I don't feel using a couple of feet of the LT of 4" size in the straight run will make any difference. Any opinions?

The NEC is silent on it but what do the job specs say?

The factory submittals do not give any info on the wiring method perferred. One of the in house electricians was questioning piping directly in. Its been my expierence that when using 4" LT UL listed type in such a short length is almost as rigid as the pipe. Thanks for the info on the NEC view. I could not find anything on this.

I would think that a unit that size already has a few rigid pipe connections for the chilled water piping. Adding a non flexible electrical connection shouldn't matter.

I agree, the entire unit will be solidly mounted. Only the individual motors and compressors will be mounted on springs or rubber.
