flexible connections to swimming pool motors

I saw several swimming pool motors wired using FMC. This was in an electrical room separated from the pool area. It seems to me that 680.21(A)(3) would not permit this installation but would like to confirm that. Only liquidtite metallic or non-mettallic permitted?

Sounds like a violation, unless it's a double insulated pump motor. See 680.21(B). This allows any chapter 3 wiring method.
