I have run into an instance where the contractor has run about 20-30 ft of flexible cord to a permanently mounted LED luminaire. They used TY-Wraps to support the flexible cord and the cord enters a 4x4 J-Box via a listed connector and terminates to the branch CKT hardwired. I believe this is a code violation as 410.62(C)(1) states
shall be permitted to be cord connected provided the luminaire is located directly below the outlet or busway. Would this apply to a hardwire situation? Is hardwiring the cord allowed? Also i am unable to find strapping requirements if in fact running 20FT if flexible cord is allowed.
