Flexible Metallic Tubing and IGS cable?

Has anyone ever seen or used FMT or IGS cable?
I am trying to find a sample of these for my class.
And because I've never seen them my self.
Every supply house I go to tries to give me FMC and can't find IGS. Are these common any where?

Re: Flexible Metallic Tubing and IGS cable?

FMT is used in environmental air spaces "plenums" above drop ceilings in Chicago. It comes in six foot whips for attaching fixtures.

IGS sounds like the smooth plastic tubing use to enclose lines that are bored underground. Not 100% sure about that .

IGS: Integrated Gas Spacer Cable: Article 326.

I'm guessing this is something the power company uses at high voltage (but I'm not sure why it would be in the NEC). It sounds expensive. 20 PSI of sulfur hexafluoride gas. I wouldn't have a clue how it would be terminated while maintaining pressure. And 500KCM is only good for 168 amps.

Re: Flexible Metallic Tubing and IGS cable?

I once posted a question here on IGS as to what it was, no reply. I have had great success in obtaining other samples of conduit from Carlon, I just got a big box full of HDPE conduit, which will be a new article in the 2005 NEC.
If there is a UL listing for IGS then the listing would show the manufacturers that make it...

Re: Flexible Metallic Tubing and IGS cable?

So should I try to find IGS cable in the ul white book? or is there a nouther place?
How would one go about contacting carlon for samples?
