Hi, I am doing an electrical design on a project to provide flood mitigation for a residential subdivision area in south florida. The design is to provide a backup generator and normal source that will feed pumps that will turn on to prevent flooding for an area that has regular flooding issues multiple times a year. In my research I did not observe any local code, the nec or the florida building code that states that these pumps need to be on article 700 or 701 systems, therefore my assumption is that these would be placed on an article 702 system. Also, all the electrical equipment and generator serving the pumps will comply with ASCE 24-14 and will be placed above the base flood elevation. Am I missing something or is this fine to be placed on an article 702 system?

Chapter 27 of the adopted Building Code would provide the answer. I do not believe it requires Emergency (700) or Standby (701) power sources for flood mitigation pumps.
