the home i'm roughing in right now will have a 2" thick "finished" concrete floor. i need to provide 5 floor boxes for receptacles, and was looking for reccomendations on what product to use. there is easy access from below. i've seen the pvc ones that you trim after the pour, but i think that those are made for when you are putting some other flooring product on top of the concrete(the trim ring is at least 1/4" proud of the concrete). maybe a 4sq. box with a 2 3/4" mud ring screwed from the underside of the sub-floor?

That is not listed for concrete use.

I have seen adjustable floor boxes. But one for a 2" slab, might be harder to find.

I would say that a 4" square w/ cover is listed for concrete use but not for use as a floor box. We put them in poured concrete walls all of the time. A floor box is required to be listed for the purpose. 314.27(C).

I think that was what the OP was thinking about at first, but said that he thought the trim out kit would not be flush with an unfinished floor, but I think it would work with a trim made for tile floors. I like those boxes, I've even used them in wood floors by mounting a 2x4 between the joist under them to support the box.
