Floor Boxes

I've been on-line looking at specs for floor boxes, and it seems they are separated into two groups; those for "wood floors" and those for concrete or "poured" floors (slabs, obviously).

Anyhow, I have a crazy (seriously- IN$ANE!!) owner-builder customer and she (gender specifics not added to suggest anything;)) insists I have installed the incorrect box in her marble floor which is installed over a wooden sub-floor. I used Hubbell's "Home Select" product for wood floors. She approved the box cover but is now saying she doesn't want a "hump" on her floor. So in other words, she would like the cover recessed into the marble. All fine and dandy if her tile guy feels like returning to the job (all the subs are happily elsewhere) to grind some marble and recess the cover.

ANYHOW, my point was to ask if I am correct or not in using a box listed for wood floors even though the finsih is tile. The product is designed to extend and handle the thickness of the tile so I don't see any issue with my selection here. It seems the mfr differentiation between wood and slab-type floors is regardless of finsihed surface.

Any takers???

Thanks!

Thanks. I see that now. I passed over this earlier today and thought if they looked anything like Wiremold I probably shouldn't go there.

Thanks for pointing these out.

Sure there are differences between boxes that are for wood vs poured concrete. But look at it this way the box is not the main part of a floor recp. install it is the cover. The box is just a box for containing the wireing and installing the device just like in a wall. It is the cover that will be protecting the device. That is why they are made so heavy to stand up to foot traffic. If she wants the cover flush with the tile then she needs to get the tile guy busy grinding and recessing the cover.
