Going to bid a job and we will need to install floor receptacles in a concrete floor with a room below. we will use conduit to get to the locations and I was wanting to know what you guys recommend for the box / device I want to core drill the floor and set in a single receptacle in a cylinder type box. any suggestions.

My suggestion is to use whatever poke through your supply house stocks or can get next day. It's not like there's lots of choices.

And if you do have a local choice of more than one poke-through, pick the one that matches the size of a core bit you already own.

I have time to order whatever I think would work best for the poke thru, as far as bit size, I only own 3 sizes none that will do the job. I rent bits from a local rental shop, they have all the sizes I need and I don't do a lot of larger size core drilling so it makes sence right now to rent them.

We use "Poke Through Boxes" on many retrofit jobs, and I offer a word of advice, be sure to get a price from your supplier, (don't just use a WAG) they are proud of them and the price can differ drastically from option to option.

Make sure you get the right size dry core bit for the poke thru so it holds tight and maintains its fire rating unless you are using a wet core same applies. I have done a lot of work for federated department stores and we used the hubbel poke thrus extensively. Where the cables fed in and out I think we used to use duplex 90 degree connectors for the mc cable and it worked out good for some reason I dont remember it has been a while.
