Hi ,
Is there any help on the Electrical Code Inspector exam here? I am seeing alot of jobs opening in Florida. I have an IAEI General and 1&2 Family Dwellings cert.
I see ICC does their exams. Do you have to take the exam in Fl.? Is it a computer based exam ? Are there any other certifications involved to inspect all work ?
Thanks for your help.

Inspections in Florida are done mostly thru City and County Governments. Some governments hire private engineers to run thier building departments. ICC proctors the test for the governments agencys. The license is called Standard Inspector. That is a do all electric license res and commercial. The private guy use ICC inspectors. Either way you must take the Florida exam. Codes are based on the NEC. The private guys are looking for Muli-certified inspectors. The Government jobs are few and far between because of the slow down in construction. Good luck.

I understand they are done by City/County Govt. Is it a computer based test? Do I have to go to Fl. or is it typical "Sylvan" test?
