Florida Prometric exam experience?

Hello everyone, I am currently preping for my masters in Brevard County florida, after a brief call to Prometric in MN, I was told by the advisor there, that my sprial bound code book( purchased from Mike), would NOT be allowed in. It had to be a untampered paperback version. with or without tabs, after spending two hours on prometrics web site I find NO reference to this ONLY NFPA 70 2005. Does only one have experience with these exam proctors, could this advisor be talking his opinion or reality? When I took my journeymen exam there, they did not even look at my code book, just my calculator. Something is wrong here, I have invested too much time and money to show up and be denied using my own code book that I feel confident in using.

Any version of the NEC will be permitted. I have even heard of some that were permitted to use the handbook. As long as you do not have loose sheets of paper or excessive amounts of writting in the code book, you will be fine. When I say excessive, I mean excessive. Your typcial notes in the margins and between sections are fine. Highlights and tabs are also acceptable.

You are also correct on the calculator. Make sure it is just a simple function calculator with no programming or memory storage.

Good luck...

Hi windclaw, I just took the Brevard masters exam at the beginning of the month and had no problems with my sprial bound code book, it never came into question. I too purchased it from Mike and was concerned about the Ohm's law sticker on the cover being a problem, they never said a word. Good luck with the exam.

I just took the Brevard County masters exam a few weeks ago with a spiral bound code book purchased from Mike with the Ohm's Law wheel sticker on the front cover and all the quick find tabs, neither one of the two proctors said a work about it. I did a lot of highlighting too. Good luck.

Thank you Philosamon and the others who answered I took the brevard county exam YES terday, I feel "okay" about it, but not great. Some of the questions were a bit obscure, I found them okay, had trouble with the answers they had for some conduit fill and size, my math was NOT adding up to their answers, simple stuff too. Best critque I can give on myself is to watch time management better. Still I may have passed it, and at any rate I have a second test penciled in for June 20th. So does anyone have any encourging words of sage advice.
=:)
