I just received Some mercury 2x2 fixtures with dimming ballasts . They came with a black wire that said switched hot and an orange wire that said dimmed hot. Do these fixtures also need a constant hot? Waiting for fixture rep to call back but wanted to see if anyone has installed these. I know they come this way when using a lutron system but we just want to use compatible dimmers.

Yes, they do. You need 3-wire feeds.101010 said:

They need a switched hot, a dimmed hot and a neutral. A constant feed is not required if the ballast only has 3 wires sticking out of it.
