Fluke 87 Vs remote displays

One of my 87s showed a drop in voltage from the expected 240 to 70v while in the min/max mode. It wasn't until the POCO was on location that we discovered the 87 had gone leads up. Oops.

I'll check it out the best I can but it looks like I'm in the market for a new one. The price is still in the $390 area, has a few new features, and I am used to it. All pluses.

Have any of you tried the meters with remote displays? Are they worth it?

yes, and no.

had a fluke clamp on with a remote display. it lasted a year and a half,
and failed. as i had other meters, i didn't even bother with fixing it.

four years or so back, i got the Fluke CNX 3000 system.

it's now been discontinued. replaced by the fluke connect system,
which doesn't seem to support the older system. they made the one
i bought for 18 months, before throwing it under the bus.

meh. fluke's planned obsolescence strategy has caused me to have
an allergic reaction to their entire line of equipment. the only thing
i use much any more is the fluke 345 power meter, and a fluke
3 phase power meter that has since been discontinued.

the whole strategy is to be able not to have to suit up with PPE, and
to do logging. maybe if they supported their stuff for more than a year,
i'd think about it.
