Hey there. I'm looking for a less costly alternative to the Fluke microscan meter and kit.
Has anyone actually used a reliable non Fluke unit?
I see Klein makes a similar unit.

Thank you!

As usual, it really depends on what you're looking to be able to do. The Fluke may be a bit more than you need. Personally, I'd go with either the Klein Scout Jr., or the Scout Pro 3 if I was going to test multiple cables. There's one Scout Pro 3 kit that comes with 5 remotes ($90) and another that comes with 36 remotes ($180). The Scout Pro 3 also does coax.

Thank you. I've used the fluke microscanner before and it was great. I was looking at the klein pro 3. It looks like it'll do what the microscanner does. I'm hoping its as dependable.
Thanks again

for basic testing, fluke micro scanners is the best i have ever used. there might be other brands out there that as good if not better with higher price tag. trendnet makes some cheap testers, klein's not that bad for basic testing as well

I'll follow up with my experience with the Klein as soon as it arrives and I get an opportunity to use it.
